Drives

STANDARD DRIVE
Standard Drive consists of V-Belt Drive from
motor to Mixer's double reduction chain and sprocket drive. Belt drive operating with 1800
R.P.M. motor reduces input speed on first chain drive to only 360 R.P.M. or less depending
on size of mixer. This moderate input speed is designed to minimize chain and sprocket
wear in order to provide for a long period of service. Furthermore, all of the small
sprockets are "hard tooth" which significantly extends their life expectancy.
All bearings used on Davis Mixers are completely sealed and are provided with grease
zerks. Most are ball bearings. The main drive shafts on our larger mixers operate in
double row roller bearings.

FOOT MOUNTED SPEED REDUCER
Replaces mixer's V-Belt and first
chain drive. Using this system, the mixer's drive consists of an electric motor attached
to the speed reducer and a single low speed chain drive from the reducer to the mixer's
main shaft. This system is recommended for users that run their mixers from 8 to 12 hours
per day.

SHAFT MOUNTED SPEED REDUCER
Replaces mixer's double reduction
chain drive. Reducer attaches directly to mixer's main shaft and is driven from the motor
with a V-Belt drive. Mixers that are in use 12 to 24 hours per day require this system, as
well as those operations that mix products which could do damage to a chain and sprocket
drive.
