Davis Mixers are used throughout the world in commercial, industrial, agricultural, food processing, greenhouse and nursery operations. They regularly mix a vast variety of ingredients ranging from chemicals, fertilizers, foundry sand, detergents, lubricants, plastics, insecticides, livestock feed, dog food, rat poison, grass seed, municipal garbage and manure, as well as all types of potting soil.
Gentle Mixing Action
Precision Mixes without damaging the media. We build many different types of mixing agitators to blend the numerous ingredients Davis Mixers are called upon to handle. For blending potting soil the paddle agitator is a must. Its gentle blending movement provides a lifting and tumbling action as well as circulation from end to end in order to achieve precision mixing, batch after batch without damaging the ingredients' integrity.
There's a delicate balance between not enough mixing action to provide a uniform mix and too much which unnecessarily breaks down the delicate media, especially peat and chemicals or fertilizer. Ribbons and augers are fine for mixing other products, but ribbons provide too little movement and augers far too much ...which results in excessive destruction of ingredients in the mix.
Combining paddles and augers isn't necessary. A properly designed paddle agitator provides all the necessary mixing action. Anything else only serves to tear up the media. In soil mixing, the critical balance revolves around using the fewest moving parts in order to accomplish precision mixing. It's simply a matter of having the necessary experience building Mixing Equipment to do the job right ... Ours dates back to 1894.
